Talk: The PANDA Strip ASIC (PASTA)

Subtitle: Current status of the development
for the MVD silicon strip front-end
Slides: 15
Duration: ~20 minutes

Date: 02 April 2015
Occasion: IKP-1 group meeting seminar
Location: IKP meeting room, FZ Jülich
Audience: People from IKP-1, mainly physicists working on PANDA but also other hadron physics experiments

Huh, that was close, I almost missed my turn at the weekly seminar. Luckily, I just presented my work the week before, so I could reuse most of the things from there. I put in three more slides because I have some more time to explain.

The talk went smooth, no complains here. Some interesting questions afterwards about radiation effects and protection, even I could learn something here.

Talk: Neutrino Sources

Subtitle: … and some basic detection principles
Slides: 34
Duration: ~ 55 Minutes

Date: 13 January 2015
Occasion: IKP PhD seminar
Location: IKP, FZ Jülich
Audience: Other PhD students, mostly IKP-1

I repeat some slides from last time to remember people of what we already talked about. The rest is an overview of different sources with their properties. It went quite well, from what I can tell.

Talk: Stars, Supernovae, and Neutrinos

Disclaimer: I forgot to upload this when it was due, thus the delay.

Subtitle: A brief introduction into the stars of astrophysics.
Slides: 16
Duration: ~ 45 Minutes

Date: 28 August 2014
Occasion: IKP PhD seminar
Location: IKP, FZ Jülich
Audience: Other PhD students, mostly IKP-1

My turn in the weekly PhD seminar. I wanted to focus on astrophysical neutrinos and started with supernovae. The topic grew a bit, so in the end I mainly talked about supernovae and postponed the more general neutrino talk to the next time.

Generally it went fine. Some explanations were a bit half-baked because I didn’t rehearse this talk. But the atmosphere is quite relaxed and invites discussions, so it’s fine.

Talk: Welcome to the PANDA Experiment

Subtitle: Physics Motivation and Detector Concept
Slides: 23
Duration: 30 Minutes

Date: 12 June 2014
Occasion: PANDA collaboration meeting, Introduction session
Location: GSI Darmstadt
Audience: New and not so experienced PANDA members, mostly PhD students

The second time I give this talk, this time a bit compressed compared to the first time. It went well, even though I copied most of the slides and thus didn’t prepare myself thoroughly. The timing was better though, because I left out some details not really relevant to get the big picture.

Talk: PASTA Status Update

Subtitle: Current status of analog and digital parts
Slides: 21
Duration: ~25 minutes

Date: 10 June 2014
Occasion: 49. PANDA collaboration meeting, MVD session
Location: ASR, GSI Darmstadt, Germany
Audience: PANDA MVD group

I didn’t put too much effort in preparing this status update because most of the things I’ve already shown before somewhere. So I know what to say about the slides and can copy many of them from previous talks. Quite new is the section for the analog part, there I got some slides from my colleagues.

The talk itself went quite well. It was not the best talk in terms of preparation and more like a discussion, but this suits fine in this session.

Talk: The PANDA Strip ASIC (PASTA)

Subtitle: Current status of the development
for the MVD strip readout ASIC
Slides: 17
Duration: 18 minutes

Date: 3 April 2014
Occasion: IKP-1 seminar
Location: IKP-1 seminar room
Audience: Coworkers from the institute, mostly physicists but not all involved in PANDA and even less in electronics

I really get in a flow of presenting my work and each time I do it, it gets smoother. Afterwards, I end up in a lengthy discussion not particularly about my work but the MVD in a greater scheme.
